Cabin 805

I still cannot really believe it – I’ve actually booked the cruise.

Jokingly told a friend that I’m going to start a blog (Cabin805) to document the journey as there is so much preparation that goes into this experience… or maybe it’s just me – overthinking everything.

Starting with the Cabin #.

I’ve been on a few cruises (Ocean x 3 and River x 4) to know that I wanted a balcony cabin – if at all possible. Watched a few youtube videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLStC1njvkc – Thank you Gary from – Tips for Travellers) on which cabins to go for and which to try and avoid… under the nightclub etc. OK, the ship does NOT have a nightclub – but hypothetically speaking…

My biggest thing was the ship has this striking red line that runs accross the balconies on deck 8. I wanted a glass balcony railing – so not one that is affected by the red line. I watched videos, paused video and counted balconies to figure out that Cabin 805 just misses the red line.

Its not close to a restaurant or laundry or Gym or elevators (where people stop for a chat before heading to their cabins)

All things considered, it checked all my boxes – save that it has a connecting door – but then you can’t have it all. [ Update – this turned out not to be a connecting cabin *happy dance* ]

Over the next few days I’ll try to document most of the preparations that have gone into the cruise up until now – with less than 6 weeks to go.
